Urangan Point State school is a family orientated school located close to the boat harbour in Hervey Bay. Established in 1916, our enrolment currently is 440 students and we are quickly becoming a school of choice for many families throughout the area.
We currently have 18 classes in total: three each in Prep and Years One, Two and Three and two classes in Years Four, Five and Six.
Urangan Point is part of the Great Results Guarantee Program, funded by the State Government. Extra funds provided to the school go towards providing extra teacher aides in every Prep to Year 4 classroom and two dedicated Student Welfare aides to assist across the school. We also fund the employment of a Student Welfare Officer who assists with student's social and emotional welfare, as well as guiding the Student Council and maintaining links between home and school.
Every classroom offers students access to an interactive whiteboard, as well as computers in each room. Our dedicated ICT room offers access to a bank of 30 computers and an Interactive Whiteboard.
Our modern and vibrant Library is a hub of activities every day. Here, staff, students and community members access the huge range of learning and recreational resources on offer at the school.
We offer a Special Education Program (SEP) for those students with special needs, Three trained SEP teachers work with teachers, parents and students to ensure maximum learning outcomes for students in this area. A number of SEP teacher aides assist in this area.
Our Parents and Citizens group (P&C) is an active body within the school. We are extremely fortunate to reap the benefits of their fund-raising and community linked activities.
